Young Women in STEM: Climate Change

Young women in high school are encouraged to participate in our 12-session program to learn more about the opportunities in agricultural and ocean technologies and how jobs in those industries can make a difference in fighting climate change.

Throughout the program, we will be joined by female engineers, innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to learn about their experiences, and get hands-on with workshops hosted by SuperNOVA staff from Dalhousie University.

Ocean technology is a rapidly growing industry in Atlantic Canada and over six sessions, we will explore topics like ocean observation, ROV usage, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy and more!

Agricultural technology is developing across the region, and throughout these six sessions, we will explore topics like robotics, artificial intelligence, data software and more!

Participants can be entered to win prizes including "a day in the life" shadowing of an industry leader!

What is Amplify?

Amplify is an exclusive Accelerator Program in partnership with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development.

  1. Using a “learn by doing” approach, participants are introduced to concepts and strategies that will move their business idea along a continuum from idea to investment ready.
  2. Accountability and milestones for development have been incorporated throughout the program to ensure that momentum is measured, and bottlenecks uncovered that can be then addressed through advisory services and/or mentorship.
  3. Best-in-class tools are employed throughout the program to ensure a consistent experience at both locations of Ignite.

How it Works

Once accepted into the program, the participants will be enrolled as a full-time resident company at IGNITE, full access to our facilities, resources, equipment, network mentorship and programming for 6 months and a cash injection of $5000 in their company to jumpstart their business.

How are Winners Selected?

Once IGNITE has reviewed all the applications and videos received, shortlisted applicants will be invited to pitch live to the judges via zoom. The live pitch event will be a maximum of five minutes with Q&A from the judges. Following the pitch event, IGNITE will reveal the top six winners that will comprise the cohort.
